You have been abused, deployed to the battleground, assaulted or hit with life-altering news.
You are more angry than usual or more withdrawn. You can’t stop the thoughts surrounding the trauma.
EMDR can heal your trauma. It is the most researched methodology in the world.
Here’s how it works – in my office we stimulate your brain bi-laterally (Easy! I usually use small pulsers you hold in your hand). I have you focus on a memory of the trauma, the feeling associated with the trauma and where you feel it in your body. Your brain takes over and you don’t have to do anything! Your brain will begin to process the emotions. You will feel strong emotions and different memories will come to mind. But the process goes quickly, much faster than talk therapy. In 4-5 sessions, most people begin to feel significantly better.
The goal is for you to be able to remember what happened but to have no debilitating emotion attached to it.
EMDR is endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Department of Defense (DOD) and the American Psychological Association (APA).
